LCR
Locomotive Communication Router
The LCR is a communications product that is designed to interface any serial port on a locomotive and bridge that connection to the LDARS Ethernet on-board network.
Insight into LCR technology
The LCR is a communications product that is designed to interface any serial port on a locomotive and bridge that connection to the LDARS Ethernet on-board network. It comes equipped with three switched Ethernet ports and two fully isolated software programmable 1200 to 115.2kbaud HDLC/SDLC/Aynsc RS-232/422/485 serial ports with a software programmable RS-422/485 termination.
Flexibility in Networking
The LCR can be used for generic locomotive-hardened protocol conversion applications, but can also be integrated into existing locomotive component communications infrastructures. As an example, the LCR can be used to correct locomotive crew alerter functions when energy management functions are deployed on legacy locomotives.
The LCR can also be used in event recorder applications; connected directly to native control system serial interfaces it can rebroadcast the serial stream to the locomotive network for locomotive telemetry off-boarding, useful for server applications that scan locomotive data for sub-optimal operational scenarios.
While the LCR can be deployed simply to bridge serial-communications-based fuel and locomotive health systems, it is powerful enough to produce customer alerts and alarms that can be inserted onto the locomotive network and routed subsequently to any customer server or application.
